Iraqi refugees gather to talk and socialize in a public park. Older refugees have a difficult time adjusting to their new life in the United States. It is often too late for them to start over again professionally and it is more difficult for them to learn the language and to adapt to a new culture. Older refugees remain attached to the life and community that they left behind in Iraq, especially their social life with family, neighbors and friends. As a result, they often feel marginalized and useless. El Cajon, CA, USA. 01/05/2013.
