Niger - Women and Children Food Security
A mother with her severely malnurished and ill child during an examination and testing for various medical conditions at the Save The Children malnutrition clinic inside the Aguie hospital in the Maradi region of southern Niger. Located in the Western Sahel, the landlocked country suffers from chronic malnutrition and food insecurity caused by climate related drought and erratic rainy seasons, inadequate arable land, one of the highest demographic growth rates in the world, poor social and sanitary living conditions and widespread poverty. Food insecurity affects children under five and women disproportionately, especially in rural areas. Aguie, Niger. 15/07/2017.
