Mesopotamia, USA.
Iraqi refugees play cards, backgammon and socialize at an EMASS/UPAC community center. Older refugees have a difficult time adjusting to their new life in the United States. It is often too late for them to start over again professionally, it is more difficult for them to learn the language, to adopt to a new culture and they remain attached to the life and community that they had to leave behind in Iraq, especially the social life with their family, neighbors and friends. As a result, refugees of an older generation often feel marginalized and useless. El Cajon, CA, USA. 01/05/2013.
