Vladimir, a coal miner, and his wife, who worked in the mine cafeteria for years, in their home with a portrait of Josef Stalin on the wall. They live in a sprawing neighborhood where many miners live near the mines in eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian coal miners went on strike for political change at the Kremlin, contributing to the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
