Niger - Women and Children Food Security
Rabiou, a young boy who was treated for severe malnutrition at the Save The Children malnutrition clinic at the Aguie hospital in August 2016, playing with siblings in the courtyard of the family's compound in the Maradi province of southern Niger. Located in the Western Sahel, the landlocked country suffers from chronic malnutrition and food insecurity caused by climate related drought and erratic rainy seasons, inadequate arable land, one of the highest demographic growth rates in the world, poor social and sanitary living conditions and widespread poverty. Food insecurity affects children under five and women disproportionately, especially in rural areas. Dorowa, Niger. 18/07/2017.
