Coal miners at the Chaikina coal mine. Ukrainian coal miners went on strike for political change at the Kremlin, contributing to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Although on strike, some coal miners must continue to descend into the mine to conduct maintenance operations to prevent gas buildup and accidents. Makeevka, Ukraine, USSR. 20/04/1991.
