Angola
Samuhala Kashitu, the Soba (village chief) of Samuhala. The village was cut off from surrounding towns for many years because the road leading to the village was mined during the country's civil war. The region was formerly a rich agricultural zone, but the villagers have been surviving on subsistance farming because there was no way to get their produce to market. Mines Advisory Group (MAG) cleared the road of landmines opening up the area to commerce and development..Samuhala, Angola. 29/09/2010.Photo © J.B. Russell
