Iraqi women attend a beauty class in make up styling at the Michigan Make Up Academy, a program run by Lutheran Social Services of Michigan (LSSM) to help refugees learn skills in order to find employment. Many women refugees have lost their husbands to violence, kidnappings and terror attacks in Iraq and arrive in the United States with little work experience or skills.
