BURKINA FASO
The "Naba" (village chief) of Tanlili in the cave of one of the sacred hills. The cave is the place where the village chiefs conduct ceremonies to ask the ancesters and spirits of the hill for a good harvest and for solutions to problems in the community. The word Tanlili means "hidden behind the hills" in Mossi, the language of the ethnic majority in Burkina Faso. .Tanlili, Burkina Faso. 03/06/2004.Photo © J.B. Russell
