Some studies show that children of underage mothers, whose bodies are not fully prepared for chldbearing, are at greater risk of malnutrition. Located in the Western Sahel, the landlocked country suffers from chronic malnutrition and food insecurity caused by climate related drought and erratic rainy seasons, inadequate arable land, one of the highest demographic growth rates in the world, poor social and sanitary living conditions and widespread poverty. Food insecurity affects children under five and women disproportionately, especially in rural areas. Aguie, Niger. 15/07/2017.
