Karima Moussa, 25, has five children, one of which is being treated for severe malnourished at the Save The Children malnutrition clinic at the Aguie hospital. Suffering from malnutrition themselves, mothers are often unable to breast feed which in turn causes malnutrition among their children. Located in the Western Sahel, the landlocked country suffers from chronic malnutrition and food insecurity caused by climate related drought and erratic rainy seasons, inadequate arable land, one of the highest demographic growth rates in the world, poor social and sanitary living conditions and widespread poverty. Food insecurity affects children under five and women disproportionately, especially in rural areas. Aguie, Niger. 15/07/2017.
