Iraqi refugees gather outside the Saint Michael Chaldean church. The majority of Iraqi Christians are Chaldean Catholics. Since the 2003 invasion of Iraq by the United States and its allies, Iraqi Christians have been persecuted and forced to flee the country by Muslim extremists. Since 2008, thousands of Iraqi refugees have been resettled in the United States every year.
