A woman in shock and suffering from pregnancy complications is treated along a remote dirt track where she was found by a MSF mobile clinic. Family members had been transporting her long distances by bicycle in an attempt to reach medical assistance. The mother survived, but she lost her baby. Over 1200 people die every day in the RD Congo, primarily from preventable causes such as malaria, tuburculosis and malnutrition, as a direct result of the country's long conflict. ?Katanga province, Democratic Republic of Congo. 21/06/2006 ?Photo © J.B.
