Dr. Abdul Jabbar practiced internal medicine for thirty five years in Iraq in addition to being a professor at the Baghdad Medical College. At sixty-five years old, it would be too lengthy and costly to re-certify in the United States to practice medicine. In order to make a living and support his family, Dr. Jabbar opened a Middle Eastern pastry shop. He does not regret coming to the U.S., but is disappointed that his may years of experience and knowledge is not being used to help others.
