Iraqi Refugees Lebanon
Christian refugees from Iraq at the Chaldean Bishopric. The church and Caritas help the refugees with employment, rent, health, education and administration problems. Lebanon is host to an estimated 50,000 Iraqi refugees. Relative to their percent of the overall Iraqi population, a large proportion of the refugees in Lebanon are Christian. Many refugees come to Lebanon because they feel they have better opportunities for work and resettlement than in neighboring Syria or Jordan, however they also run a greater risk of arrest, detention and deportation..Beirut, Lebanon. 05/12/2008.Photo © J.B.
