DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
Women in a temporary settlement for displaced people in the south eastern province of Katanga. The region has been severely effected by fighting between government forces and Mai Mai militias driving thousands of people from their homes. Over 1200 people die everyday in the DRC, largely due to preventable diseases such as malaria, malnutrition and tuberculosis, a direct consequence of the country's conflict and decades of kleptocratic leadership.
