Cotton farmers harvesting their cotton. Two million farmers depend directly on cotton for survival in Burkina Faso. Despite cultivating some of the highest quality, cost effective cotton in the world, West African cotton farmers are suffering due to huge subsidies given to US and European cotton producers. These subsidies have driven world cotton prices to an all time low.
