A man with bullet wounds in his back being reated by doctors at the al-Kadisia Hospital emergency room in Sadr City. The area is a vast slum of 3 million Shiite Muslims, long oppressed and marginalized by Saddam's regime. The neighborhood is a hotbed for the insecurity and violence that has thrived with the absence of authority in the country.
