A baby born congenitally deformed is examined at the al-Mansour Medical College hospital. Since the 1991 Gulf War, where armor piercing depleted uranium weapons were used for the first time on a large scale, incidents of congenital anomalies, cancers and other rare illnesses have risen dramatically in Iraq.
