A young couple and their child, born congenitally deformed, consult with Dr. Selma al-Taha, a western trained genetics specialist, at the al-Mansour Medical College hospital. Some 375 tons of depleted uranium, in divers weaponry, were used against Iraq in the Gulf War. Since 1991 incidents of congenital anomalies and other rare illnesses have risen exponentially in the country.
